Learning Search is a site search solution built on SLI Systems' patented advanced search technology. It continually “learns” from past site search activity by tracking visitors' aggregate search queries and click-thrus, and uses that data to deliver results based on popularity. Whether companies use their Web site to sell products, provide support or information, Learning Search will return the most relevant search results, which helps attract and retain customers, and ultimately increases sales.
Studies show that most people search within a site, and also that they expect to find what they’re looking for on the first page of results, or they’ll abandon the site. Learning Search delivers the results people are looking for on the first page 95% of the time, which means more satisfied, and potentially more loyal customers.
Learning Search is different
Other site search technologies deliver results based on complex algorithms and never learn from user behavior. Learning Search improves search results for all users and reduces the time it takes them to find what they desire by tracking every query and click-thru to improve relevance. A premium site search solution, Learning Search is a hosted service providing industry leading search features with the fastest deployment of any solution available.
Learning Search at a Glance
Customized Results Presentation
Search results are presented according to a Web site’s look and feel so the page appears to be part of the site. Additionally, search results presentation can include pictures, graphics and links (such as a “buy” button beside products) to make it easier for visitors to make a purchase.
Managed Service
SLI Systems provides Learning Search as a managed service ensuring customers always come first. Our approach is based on a Software as a service (SaaS) delivery model and provides significant benefits over traditional installed applications. By hosting and managing the site search for our customers we provide rapid deployments while requiring very limited client resources during setup and ongoing maintenance.
Search Suggestions
Suggested queries that are related to a particular search term are shown at the top of the results page and below each search result to help visitors refine or expand their search. Learning Search also presents spelling suggestions when people enter miss-spelled words.
Reporting and Analytics
Comprehensive reporting from the Search Trends system provides detailed information to help improve your site, including; what visitors are looking for, what they are finding and not finding, and key metrics on search result quality. Learning Search also offers category-based reporting, providing insights into the search behavior.
Faceted Search Learning Search presents search results with the same navigational refinements as the rest of your site, providing a consistent user experience across search and navigation. For instance, a search for popcorn maker would show normal search results and also present a navigable list that would allow the visitor to refine their search.
Unique Functionality Drives Site Traffic
Learning Search can be used in conjunction with Site Champion to automate search engine optimization for thousands of "long tail search terms" - infrequently used search terms that have very high conversion rates.
Learning Search Unique Features
Ajax Search
Site search enhanced with AJAX technology doesn’t require a page refresh each time a customer searches, selects a refinement, or goes to the next page. Only the data that is needed is requested, meaning that less data is sent to the browser and results appear faster, resulting in a better experience for your site visitors.
Mouse Over Pop Ups Pop-up images can make the search process easier for customers, and save them time. With this feature, shoppers can mouse over an image in the search results to see a larger version of the image and/or pertinent product details in a pop-up window. Pop-ups allow shoppers to browse many products without having to click into each result.
Adding Color to Site Search It’s now possible to allow shoppers to see color options within the search results, and then refine based on their color choice. For example, if a visitor searches for “women’s sweater,” they can then choose to refine the results to only see the red sweaters. Color refinements in search work best when they appear as color “swatches” rather than text links (e.g., red, blue, green).
Integrating Video into Site Search If you have gone to the effort to create videos, you want to make sure they can be found. One way of doing this is to highlight videos in your site search, perhaps by including video images directly within the search results or placing an icon next to the results that feature the video.
Open Search
What many online retailers may not realize is that they can allow customers to add their own ecommerce site search to this web browser search box – making it easy for customers to search their site no matter where they are on the Internet, without having to go to the retailer’s site first. This is done by adding a simple piece of XML code to your own site.
